About Us
Founded on the belief that no family should face the unknown alone, we work to connect communities and bring missing persons home.
Our Mission
Voices of the Missing is a humanitarian initiative dedicated to helping families locate and report missing persons. We build the infrastructure, both digital and community-based, that lets information flow where it is needed most.
Our approach combines grassroots community engagement with modern documentation practices, ensuring every reported case receives the attention and resources it deserves.
We stand with families in their search for answers, providing not just tools and registries, but emotional support and a community that understands their journey.
Our Values
Compassion
We approach every case with empathy, recognising the deep pain families endure when a loved one is missing.
Transparency
We operate with full transparency in our methods, data handling, and reporting to maintain the trust of communities.
Community
We believe in collective action. Our strength comes from the communities we serve and the volunteers who support us.
Persistence
We never give up. Cases can take years to resolve, and we remain committed to every one we take on.
Our Journey
Foundation
Voices of the Missing was founded with the launch of our Eritrea initiative, establishing our first registry of missing persons.
Growth
Expanded our volunteer network and strengthened community partnerships across the East African diaspora.
Sudan Initiative
Launched missingfromsudan.org, our second regional registry, supporting Sudanese families impacted by ongoing conflict and displacement.
Ethiopia Expansion
Launched missingfromethiopia.org two years ahead of schedule, bringing secure reporting and a public register to Ethiopian communities in five languages.
Somalia, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan
Five new registries are in development, extending our work to families across the Horn of Africa and the Middle East.
